The reverse of drilling down. You give the constraints and get the variants that are actually good at that money. Annual mileage is asked for because it flips the diesel-or-petrol answer and decides whether a DPF is a liability or a non-issue.

How the ranking works

Candidates are filtered on the good-buy price rather than the average asking price, so the budget represents what you'd pay for a sound example rather than what the cheapest advert says. The ranking then rewards power per euro and budget headroom, and penalises risk level and running cost, with running cost weighted by the annual mileage you entered. It's a heuristic, not a valuation; the reason for each placing is printed next to it so you can disagree with it.
