The petrol Hondas of this period are among the most dependable cars here, with chain-driven engines that ask for oil and very little else. The diesel is the exception and the reason to read a service history, because the 2.2 i-DTEC can crack a piston and clog its particulate filter on short journeys. So the buying rule matches the Toyota one rather than the German one, since here the petrol is the safe choice.
