A SEAT of this era is a Volkswagen with firmer suspension and a lower price, which is the entire argument for buying one. Engines, gearboxes and faults are the ones you'd find in a Golf, and so are the parts, so any VW independent can look after it. What you give up is resale value, and that's exactly why the used prices look attractive. Then buy on service history rather than on badge.
