1.6 16V K4M

Renault's long-serving port-injected 1.6. It's slow, simple and belt-driven, so the cambelt schedule is the one thing you cannot skip.

Overview

The 1.6 16V is the K4M petrol version of the Dacia Duster SUV (HS), sold 2010–2017 with 105 PS and manual_5. Manageable at level 2. Mileage and servicing

What the odometer does and doesn't tell you here, plus the service items whose neglect causes the expensive failures above.

There's no particulate filter and no high-pressure fuel system here, so the mileage means less than the service record does. A well-kept 200,000 km car is a perfectly sound buy.

What that meansNo US band exists to compare. Any car you find there's a private import, parts and specialist knowledge are thinner, and the price says more about import cost than about the market.

US figures are the EU band converted at a stated rate. No US market differential is modelled: we hold no sourced US asking prices, and inventing one would be worse than saying so. What the comparison does show for real is availability. Most of this range was never sold in the US.

    Buyer notes

Our judgement, kept separate from the records it's built on.

    Our read, not a record
Take this one if your driving is short and local, because there's no filter to block and no injector to wash a bore. It's genuinely slow in a car with this much frontal area, and loaded or on a hill you'll notice. The cambelt is the item that matters and it isn't optional. So check the four-wheel-drive system engages properly if the car has it, since it's the reason most people buy a Duster in the first place.

Everything above this line comes from the issue and specification records. This paragraph is our judgement on top of them. See how we reach it.
