A Škoda of this era is a Volkswagen with a different badge and a lower price, which is the whole argument for buying one. The engines, gearboxes and faults are the ones you'll find in a Golf or a Passat, and so are the parts, so an independent VW specialist can look after it. What you give up is badge value, and that's exactly why the used prices look the way they do. So buy on service history rather than on trim, because the drivetrain decides the car.
