Overview
The 1.6 HDi is the DV6TED4 diesel version of the Peugeot 308 hatchback (T7), sold 2007–2010 with 110 PS and manual or automatic. Demands diligence at level 3. The turbo oil feed cokes up when oil changes are stretched, and the turbo fails after it. 4 failure modes are recorded against its engine, gearbox, chassis and shared components. Prices on this page are illustrative placeholders rather than a sourced market sample. See the methodology for how the bands are derived.

Which engine
1.6 HDi DV6TED4 1.6 HDi 2007–2010
The PSA small diesel in its Euro 4 form, sold across Citroën, Peugeot, Ford and Volvo. It's economical and pleasant enough, and its one real weakness is the narrow turbo oil feed, which cokes up when oil changes are stretched.
Risk 3, Demands diligence. The turbo oil feed cokes up when oil changes are stretched, and the turbo fails after it.
Known issues, ranked by expected cost
Faults recorded against this engine, its components and its chassis, ranked by likelihood × repair cost. Costs are indicative ranges with a stated labour basis.
Ranked by probability × repair cost, not by how loudly a failure is discussed. Inherited from the engine, gearbox, chassis and shared components, each written once.
Pre-purchase inspection
The same issue records, reordered into the sequence you can actually check them in: cold start, static, drive, paperwork.
1On the driveInclude low-speed manoeuvring, not just an open road.
2PaperworkOn these cars the folder is most of the value.

Mileage and servicing
What the odometer does and doesn't tell you here, plus the service items whose neglect causes the expensive failures above.
High mileage is fine when the oil changes back it up. What the odometer won't tell you is whether they happened on time, and that's what decides the turbo.
| Service item | Interval | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Engine oil and filter Stretched changes coke the turbo oil feed. | 10,000–15,000 km | €80–130 |
| Cambelt and water pump A belt failure here bends valves. | 160,000 km or 10 years | €450–700 |

United States vs Europe
1 EUR = 1.08 USD ·US figures are the EU band converted at a stated rate. No US market differential is modelled: we hold no sourced US asking prices, and inventing one would be worse than saying so. What the comparison does show for real is availability. Most of this range was never sold in the US.

1.6 HDi DV6C 1.6 HDi 2010–2013
The small PSA diesel found in half of Europe. It's economical and perfectly decent, and it has one habit that matters: the turbo oil feed cokes up when servicing is skipped, and the turbo goes with it.
Risk 3, Demands diligence. The same turbo oil-feed weakness as the earlier engine, with the particulate filter on top.

Mileage and servicing
What the odometer does and doesn't tell you here, plus the service items whose neglect causes the expensive failures above.
A commuter with high mileage and a full record is a better buy than a low-mileage car with gaps. Journey history also predicts the filter's condition.
| Service item | Interval | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Engine oil and filter Low-ash oil protects the filter and fresh oil protects the turbo feed. | 10,000–15,000 km | €85–130 |
